The Talented Mr Ripley
Recalling the visual splendor and fervent characterizations of his award-winning The English Patient, director Minghella's succulent dramatic thriller is one of the best Alfred Hitchcock films not made by the Master of Suspense. Based on the novel by Patricia Highsmith, this devious exercise in deception is a twisted little tale much like its young hero � handsome trappings masking more sinister intent.

Finding North
This comedy-drama begins on a bridge where a naked gay man contemplates jumping into the water. Witnessing the scene in a car is Rhonda, who thinks she's found her Mr Right. The man, Travis, instead disappears into the night leaving behind only a Hush Puppy for the dreamy Rhonda to take home. Fate brings them together again and in a whirlwind of events, the two are thrown together for a madcap trip to Travis' dead lover's hometown.

I Think I Do
The screwball "who will marry who" antics of The Philadelphia Story are given a gay update in this deliriously romantic and sexy comedy. Bob and Brendan are college roommates whose close friendship (and Bob�s mad crush) is chilled after a hopeful but awkward pass by Bob is rejected by Brendan. Now five years later, they reunite for the marriage of one of their former classmates.

Queer As Folk
Stuart has got it all. He's rich, drop-dead gorgeous and always the center of attention. Vince is funny, adorable and definitely a babe but, unlike Stuart, he has zero confidence in himself. Since time began Vince has carried a torch for Stuart but his love remains firmly unrequited. Then along comes Nathan. Young, wild and coming out with a vengeance, and once he arrives, nothing is ever going to be the same again.

What makes the film memorable are the loud fashions, some good acting, high-energy music and intensely druggy images.

Beautiful Thing
Jamie is a reserved teen, close to his mom, who prefers old Hollywood musicals to sports. His friendship with neighbor Ste, a fellow student who suffers through a troubled family life, soon develops into a sexual and eventually a loving relationship. How the two boys tentatively handle their nascent sexual drives and how it affects their family and friends is handled in both a fresh and surprisingly upbeat fashion. A wonderful comedy-drama and possibly the best coming out film of the last decade.

Gods and Monsters
In a performance that is nothing short of brilliant, Ian McKellen hypnotizes as gay film director James Whale. Winner of the 1999 Academy Award for Best Adapted Screenplay, based on the book Father of Frankenstein by Christopher Bram. Includes a 30-minute making of documentary, narrated by Clive Barker.
