Image 1To mark the 100th Anniversary of Ealing Studios, Warner Home Video is set to launch the Ealing Comedy DVD Collection. The release will contain four discs of the studio's greatest cinematic masterpieces. Here is some info from the press release:

The magnetism of Ealing Studios attracted some of the greatest British performers of the time including Alec Guinness, Herbert Lom and Peter Sellers in The Ladykillers. Dennis Price and Joan Greenwood joined Alec Guinness in Kind Hearts and Coronets and Stanley Holloway and Sid James teamed with him in The Lavender Hill Mob.

The collection comprises sterling classics - all 4 films are exemplary titles that appear in the BFI Top 100 list of Favourite British Films. No other films have since captured the unique black humour of the British to such devastating and hilarious results.

The films come in a fold out DVD set, which includes four artcards containing the original theatrical poster artwork. Each disc will also contain a theatrical trailer of the relevant film. The films will be presented in 1.33:1 Full Frame, and will have mono soundtracks. You can expect the set to be in shops from 2nd September, and it is likely to retail for 39.99.
